Empireonline.com have had a chance to talk to Sam Mendez, who is bringing DC Vertigo’s The Preacher to the big screen.
In the article Sam put’s the record straight by saying that at the moment they are looking for a decent script. If not then they will start writing one soon. At the moment the movie is in the initial development stage.
You may or may not know that “Preacher” was created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon (with covers by the superb Glenn Fabry) . This was the same team that had a hugely successful run on DC Vertigo’s other popular title “Hellblazer”.
So that’s saying something.
I don’t want to get done plagairising Empireonline.com so I will stop there but please check it out.

Terence Howard Exiting Iron Man 2 Shocker.

News currently doing the rounds is that Terence Howard (’James Rhodes’ in Iron Man) will not be returning for the sequel to Iron Man.
In news that has shocked the fanboys, it is being reported that Don Cheadle (Ocean’s Movies, Hotel Rwanda) will be taking his place. The reason being given is that Terence Howard was apparently wanting a bigger piece of the pie for the next installment (meaning that James Rhodes had a bigger part to play in the second movie than he had in the first).
Brit Novel and TV Show Getting a Big Screen Adaptation.

In Britain, we are proud to say that we used to have the best TV in the whole wide world.
We had programs like Dr Who, Blake’s 7, The Tomorrow People, The Prisoner, The Avengers etc and also some great kids shows.
One of the programs that I fondly remember was a programme called “Chocky”. This was about a schoolkid, Matthew, who has an imaginary friend that turns out to be an alien consciousness that bonds with Matthew’s brain. This alien consciousness also gives Matthew some special powers which he uses to evade the clutches of a shadowy government organisation.
To me, this was riveting stuff. This was the type of programme that you rushed home from school for. It was that good.
It also led to 2 follow on series, “Chocky’s Children” and “Chocky’s Challenge”.
Don’t know if this is good news or bad news, but Steven Spielberg is interested in adapting Chocky for the big screen.
Here’s a wee glimpse of the opening credits to the TV show.
