Donnie Darko Sequel - Casting News.

To all the Donnie Darko fans, just to let you know that there is a sequel in the works.
This time round, Donnie’s sister, Samantha (played by Daveigh Chase) takes centre stage. Samantha (Miss Chase) runs away with her best friend Corey (played by Briana Evigan) seven years after the events in Donnie Darko. They both go on a road trip across America and begin to experience strange visions on their travels. (Sounds like something Neil Gaimen came up with in a Sandman story arc).
Also starring in the movie is Elizabeth (Saved By The Bell and Showgirls) Berkley who plays a born again Christian. Formely a “speed freak” who has now found Jesus (and is also infatuated by her local pastor), her desire is to rid the world of evil. Ed Westwick and Justin Chetwin are the male leads in the movie.
The movie will be directed by Chris Fisher but the original writer (and also the director) Richard Kelly, will not be returning.
Production recently started in Utah.
