Short Circuit Heading for Remake.

Variety is reporting that Number 5 is coming alive again in a big screen remake of 80’s classic kids movie, ‘Short Circuit’.
Those of you that were around at the time will remember that ‘Short Circuit’ was about an advanced military robot who suddenly gained self-awareness after being struck by lightning. Number 5, as he was designated (later to be known as Johnny 5), decided that a military life was not for him and escaped into the city where he made friends with several humans who decided to help him escape the clutches of the military, who wanted him back (probably due to the fact that it was a walking talking bomb waiting to happen).
The original creators and writers, S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, have been drafted in to re-write the script and update it.
No news on when the film will be realeased nor any casting rumours.
The original film was released in 1986 and starred Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy.
